I Defy biography

1. I DEFY are not just another metalcore band, they truly know what the "Long Haul" means. Since forming in late 2009 from remnants of other established bands, they have spent a good two years playing all over the UK along with venturing to mainland Europe. They combine heavy riffs, devastating breakdowns, heart felt lyrics and passionate chorus's that guarantee crowd interaction. With over 200 live performances and a self titled 9 track internationally distributed E.P all under their belts, they were then ready for the next step. I DEFY, ever wanting to perfect their craft then turned to renowned producer Sky Van Hoff (Caliban, Machine Made God & Kreator) to track a one of single “Never Ending Lie” which was well received and featured on a number of international compilation albums Recently returning once again to Sky Van Hoff for to track their début full length album “Bridgeburner” the future looks very promising. With new tours, a brute of a début album and ever growing determination, I DEFY will soon be hitting your town, keep your eyes and ears peeled! "I am blown away. What a great band!"- Melissa Cross (Zen of Screaming) "An Unstoppable Metalcore band" - Big Cheese Magazine 2.I Defy was originally formed in late 1999 when Raoul (singer of Veil) and Frank (Former Miozän Bassplayer, now Souls On Fire) hung out one afternoon at a hardcore show and talked about the idea of forming a hardcore project. After exchanging phone numbers, a few weeks of on and off in discussing potential allies, two good friends and talented musicians, Flo (Drummer of Veil) and Mathias (Guitarist in United Mutations) joined the team and the project was formed. Since all members were still engaged in their main bands and busy touring, recording etcetera I Defy was primarily seen as a side project. However, this would change soon, when the first songs were written and two local shows were played as opening band for Kill Your Idols, Shutdown, American Nightmare and Ensign. The response was so amazing (not just from the crowd but from the headlining bands as well) that I Defy decided to turn the side project into a serious band. A year further the band found their home at Reflections and released their first mini CD "First Strike" in 2002 The record recieved an overwhelming positive response from all over the world and motivated the band to play more live shows and even bring them to the U.K. as main support for The Hope Conspiracy. May 2003 the first full length " The Firing Line" was released by Reflections Records and is now ready to continue where the first E.P. left off: 12 fast, melodic brand new songs that show a variety of musical influences from Stretch Arm Strong, Shelter even to bands like Dag Nasty. The new record entitled "On The Outside" is coming out on THORP RECORDS on the 25th of July (Europe) and 8th of August (world). Watch out!!!
